1. Network
The legal industry is huge and these days there are so many different kinds of events that provide the opportunity to network with different individuals, both online and in person. You can learn so many new things and they can also be quite fun too!
2. Take Breaks
As lawyers, our heavy workload may often have us forgetting to take breaks, however taking breaks can actually make you more productive. Take that annual leave and enjoy your time off. Creating healthy work boundaries can relieve stress and generally improve your quality of life.
3. Celebrate your milestones
No victory is ever too small. Celebrating your milestones can help improve your confidence and motivate you to keep going. It does not have to be an expensive, extravagant event but it can be as simple as updating your LinkedIn Profile and sharing your career progression.
4. Stay Connected
Talking to people in person, grabbing a coffee with a friend or going into the office more often, can do wonders for your mental health. Being socially isolated can be damaging to your mental health, we are naturally interdependent creatures. Due to post pandemic effects, with everything going online, it has become easier to neglect in-person social interaction. Your mental health is linked to your physical health, so it is important to take care of yourself physically.
We at Johnson Astills have appointed Mental Health First Aiders who are trained to support colleagues. Our mental health first aiders are trained to spot signs of mental ill-health in colleagues and help them find support both inside and outside our firm.
