What is Conveyancing?

Conveyancing is the legal process that must be undertaken to transfer the ownership of a property.

Should I instruct a conveyancing firm or a solicitor’s firm?

Both Conveyancers and Conveyancing Solicitors specialise in the transfer of the legal title of property from one person to another.

Johnson Astills’ Property team are dedicated to supporting and assisting you with the process of buying or selling a property, transferring the equity or re-mortgaging a property. Your Solicitor or Conveyancer will handle the whole process. Johnson Astills are recognised as experts in this field and are members of the Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS).

There are several factors that you may wish to consider before deciding whether to instruct a conveyancer or a solicitor:

The Nature Of The Transaction

Although an exciting process, Johnson Astills appreciates that a significant transaction such as buying a property is usually the biggest investment that purchasers will make but understands that it can be overwhelming. Johnson Astills are available to make this process as straightforward as possible but also to ensure that the transaction takes place smoothly.  We also want to ensure that you do not encounter any issues when you sell the property in the future and at Johnson Astills we are qualified to deal with more complex transactions.

Cost

Solicitors legal fees can be more expensive than conveyancers, however clients will be paying for the service that they receive. At Johnson Astills we prioritise our clients’ needs and ensure that where possible, one solicitor will deal with the entirety of the transaction to achieve consistency and continuity of service.  We are able to be tailor our service to each individual clients needs and provide a one-to-one service.

Johnson Astills work on a fixed-fee basis and ensure that the invoice provided at the end of the transaction will not exceed your original itemised quote, with no hidden costs resulting you paying more than you had been expecting.
