The Law Society welcomes, Claire Cousin, Emery Johnson’s 5th Children Panel Solicitor.
Claire Cousin is a Child Care Solicitor practising within Emery Johnson’s experienced Care Department. Claire qualified as a Solicitor in 2010 after completing her training contract with Emery Johnson. Claire undertakes all aspects of care work including representing parents and extended family members within care proceedings as well as at child protection case conferences and at the pre proceedings stage. She has also in the past represented Local Authorities within care proceedings by acting as an agent on their behalf.
After successfully applying to become a children panel solicitor, Claire, who had to submit a written application and was then invited to a formal interview at the Law Society, was informed last week that she had been accepted on to the Children Panel.
This means that she can now represent children at court, in care proceedings through the instructions of their Children’s Guardian from CAFCASS.
Claire’s accreditation means that Emery Johnson now has 5 Children Panel Solicitors based over 3 offices, Leicester, Loughborough and Coalville. These include, Partner, Emma Mitchell, Associate Solicitor, Oilen Wan and Senior Solicitors, Halina Patecka and Sarah Thomas. The care department is also supported by 2 trainee solicitors and a legal clerk.
Emery Johnson’s highly skilled care department members are willing and able to take instructions from CAFCASS within Leicestershire as well as the surrounding areas.
