Leicester Half Marathon Relay - 14th October 2018

The Half Marathon Relay was held in Leicester alongside the Leicester Half and Full marathon. This year it took place on 14^th October and Emery Johnson Astills had the greatest pride in entering three teams to run this year!

For the last five years Emery Johnson Astills have entered a team into the Half Marathon Relay that is run in October alongside the Leicester Full and Half Marathon Routes

The Half Marathon Relay involves a team of 1-4 people running the Half Marathon between them. Normally Emery Johnson Astills enter one team of four runners each year but this year we had a massive ten runners enter that made up three teams.

Our first team was “A Running Joke” with Jane Hinds, Solicitor, Trisha Parmar, Solicitor, Jessika Huczmann, Solicitor and Rhian Williams, Legal Clerk. Our second team was “Not Fast But Furious” with Rachel Diorio, Solicitor, Mandi Rai, Solicitor, Vishal Dhain, Legal Clerk and Kate Pettit, Office Support Manager. Our Third Team was “Run? I Thought You Said Rum” with Gemma Curtis, Solicitor and Hayley Kitchen, Practise Administrator.

The weather conditions this year were not the best but despite the rain and the cold weather everyone finished their leg and most of us still had smiles on our faces! Emery Johnson Astills teams finished in 15^th, 17^th and 20^th place out of 24 teams. This is an amazing achievement for our runners, some of which had never run before.

The relay is arranged by Cummins Solicitors and each year the money raised is in aid of Loros. Loros is a Leicestershire based charity that helps provide care to people with terminal illnesses. Loros have touched the heart of many people in Leicestershire in one way or another and it is has been our pleasure to be able to do something to help such a prominent local charity. Emery Johnson Astills had a just giving page which to date has raised over £800!

Jo Donald, Solicitor, also ran in the Full Marathon Relay with her running team and won the title of fastest women’s team in the Full Marathon Relay. Well done to Jo and her team that is an amazing achievement.

Well done to everyone that took part in the Half Marathon Relay, the Leicester Half Marathon and the Leicester Full Marathon, especially to Emery Johnson Astills’ three teams and Jo taking part with her running club!
