Law Society Awards 2014: Winner, Solicitor of the Year – Emma Mitchell Emery Johnson Astills
We are delighted to say that Emma won Solicitor of the Year 2014 at the Law Society Awards on the 9th May.
Emma is a family law specialist and partner at Emery Johnson Astills, regularly praised by clients for her perceptive, understanding and sensitive approach to her work.
As an advocate of alternative dispute resolution and heavily involved with collaborative law locally, she was instrumental in forging links with other lawyers and raising the profile of this work locally.
Emma works with a number of local charities, has established a pro bono project with her family law team and regularly supports student work placements.
Emma has an extremely perceptive and understanding approach, which has assisted her in dealing with the growing number of litigants.
Over the course of the last year, Emma has advised members of the travelling community in relation to the break down of a marriage and ancillary matters.
She has also handled a case regarding a contact dispute where the applicant is a transgender father. Emma has handled the case with sensitivity.
She is also currently working on a sensitive case which involves a father who has been convicted of child pornography offences. Emma is working with the mother, who wants to see the father’s statutory rights as a parent withdrawn.
Emma has also sought to raise the firm’s profile through local networking and regularly attends meetings of the Charnwood Networking group.
