Leicester Legal Walk
Emery Johnson Astills are proud to be taking part in The Leicester Legal Walk. The 10km sponsored walk is to celebrate the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta and help raise funds for free legal advice charities in Leicester and the Midlands. So far Emery Johnson Astills Solicitors has the biggest team with 10 walkers!
The recent recession has increased poverty and reduced support services. Meanwhile funding for advice services has reduced; particularly since the 2013 removal of much of legal aid for humanitarian or social welfare legal advice. The Leicester Legal Walk will raise funds for Midland Legal support Trust who provide free legal advice to the poorest and most vulnerable in our community for whom Justice is out of reach.
The Midlands Legal Support Trust help thousands of people who need legal advice such as; elderly people who need support to stay living independently, women and children who have been trafficked to the UK to become domestic or sex slaves, families living in terrible housing conditions and much more.
The walk will begin at the Leicester Crown Court on Monday 22nd June at 5:30pm and will finish at The City Rooms, Hotel Street
The money we raise will enable the Midland Legal Support Trust to continue to fight to prevent homelessness, resolve debt problems, gain care for the elderly and disabled and fight exploitation.
We would be grateful for any sponsors, it is easy to do this, just follow the link below which will take you through to our Virgin Money Giving page and click donate!
