Leicester Legal Walk

Emery Johnson Astills took part in The Leicester Legal Walk. The 10km sponsored walk was to help raise funds for the Midlands Legal Support Trust (MLST) which funds free legal advice and support to some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

MLST help thousands of people who need legal advice such as; elderly people who need support to stay living independently, women and children who have been trafficked to the UK to become domestic or sex slaves, families living in terrible housing conditions and much more.

Since funding for advice services has reduced; particularly since the 2013 removal of much of legal aid for humanitarian or social welfare legal advice, the MLST is a vital charity. The Leicester Legal Walk will raise funds for the Midland Legal support Trust who provide free legal advice to the poorest and most vulnerable in our community for whom Justice is out of reach.

Prior to the walk members of Emery Johnson Astills showcased their baking skills with a cake sale on Friday 16th June. On Monday 19th June 2017 the walk started from Leicester Crown Court and finished at the Marquis of Wellington on London Road.

So far Emery Johnson Astills has raised £550.20 and this money will enable the Midland Legal Support Trust to continue to fight to prevent homelessness, resolve debt problems, gain care for the elderly and disabled and fight exploitation.
